Analysis and Conclusion

Analysis
Since we will be conducting both quantitative and qualitative research, we will be analyzing the data obtained from a multi-dimensional manner.

From the qualitative interviews, we will first transcribe the interview and some coding system will be developed for categorizing results into data that are easier to be analyzed. In fact, because the study will be conducted both in more than one schools, we can analyze it from the following perspectives.
1. Teacher’s view within each school
We will compare views from teachers within each school, to see if there is any relationship among them. Maybe the culture of the school is affecting their views, or maybe it is the infrastructure of the school causing the effect.
2. Student’s view within each school
Again from the results of students’ view, hopefully we can find some general trend or characteristics and account for these results.
3. Parents’ view with each school

In addition, we can also conduct the following comparison to extract further information:
3. Within same school, compare various views from teachers, students and parents
4. Compare views among teachers from various schools
5. Compare views among students from various schools
6. Compare views among parents from various schools

In terms of quantitative questionnaires, we have to deal with the vast amount of numerical data obtained. We will do the analysis statistically. At the first level, we probably will calculate means and standard deviations for the data obtained, and can compare the results among various stakeholders, like parents, teachers and students. Moreover, we can try to do some second level analysis, i.e. to identify relationship/correlation among data or to test hypothesis from the data obtained. For example, is it because there is a low level of confidence among teachers in using technology in normal lessons such that it affects the students’ view in the importance of technology in their lesson?

Conclusion & Recommendation
Hopeful we will be able to extract relevant information from the analysis above and to understand the limitations and difficulties for teachers, students and parents to appreciate and actually implement the use of technology in teaching and learning. In additions, once we can identify these limitations, we should be able to come up with some recommendation to further improve the use of the technology in education, maybe it is about hardware, maybe it is about professional training, and maybe it is about teachers’ belief. We would be able to propose further directions accordingly.

  1. I've been giving some of these ideas some thought. Still unsure on what you could use means and standard deviations for? What would you be expecting to observe from these results? Maybe some multivariate analysis would be more convenient? Or maybe I'm not understanding exactly what it is that is being computed :)
